Where do you walk? Do you cover my area?

All walks take place in the local area, from Ivybridge to Plymouth, in safe, green, dog-friendly spaces. Enclosed parks, playing fields, and publicly accessible woodlands and moorland. Exact walks vary depending on your location.
If you have a PL7, PL8, or PL21 post code you should covered. If you're farther afield, text or email me a post code and I will let you know if I walk near you.

Will I meet my dog walker?

Yes. Before walking begins there will be an initial meeting to take down some important details and get to know your dog. During this meeting you can bring up any questions or concerns you might have.

Can I specify a time for my dog to be walked?

Generally you would request a morning, afternoon, or evening walk, rather than a specific time. I do try to be as flexible and accommodating as possible, and would be happy to discuss particular needs as well as your dog's normal routine. Preferred time slots will be honoured as much as possible, based on availability.

How do I change or cancel a walk?

If your plans change you can call, text, or email to cancel or rearrange a booking. I try to be ax flexible as possible. 24 hours notice is plenty of time to make changes or cancel without incurring a late cancellation fee.

Do I need to pay in advance?

You don't need to, but you can if you choose to. Regular walks are usually billed at the end of each week. Occasional or one off walks can be paid for on the day or invoiced after the walk takes place. Invoices are sent via email unless a paper copy is requested. Cash, cheque, or bank transfer are all accepted.

Do I need to be at home when you pick up my dog?

No. There's no need for you to be there, outside of the initial consultation, as long as you are comfortable allowing access to your home. Spare keys are stored securely and marked only with your pet's name.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is bad, we get wet. Walks continue in all weather. You may wish to provide a coat for your dog in case of very cold or wet weather.

What happens if there is an emergency?

During an emergency you or your emergency contact would be immediately notified, so the situation can be discussed. If urgent medical care was needed, your pet would be taken to your usual vet, or the nearest available vet, depending on the situation at hand.

How many dogs can you walk at once?

Group walks are open to up to four dogs at a time. Small groups are best so each dog can be transported securely and given plenty of individual attention. Groups are picked based on location and temperament, to ensure grouped dogs walk and play well together.

Do you walk dogs off the lead?

That's up to you. Some dogs may need to stay on the lead, temporarily or long term, but otherwise it's the owner's choice. All dogs are walked in secure locations, away from busy roads, where they can safely explore off the lead.

Will you walk a dog that isn't spayed or neutered?

Yes, but these dogs may need to be restricted to solo walks based on their behaviour and temperament. When unspayed bitches are in season they must be restricted to solo walks and kept on a lead around other dogs.

Will you walk a dog that is nervous around other dogs?

Yes. Nervous dogs can be taken on solo walks. If you are interested in socialising a dog that is nervous but non-aggressive, a mixture of solo and group walks might also be suitable. Gradual introduction to carefully selected groups is a great way to help a nervous dog build some confidence in a safe environment.

Will you walk a dog that is aggressive towards other dogs?

You can request an initial meeting for an aggressive dog. If we get along and I know that your dog will be safe with me, they will be suitable for solo walks.

Can my dog stay with you?

Unfortunately not. I don't currently offer on site daycare or overnight boarding.

Will you give my dog his medicine?

Yes. Medicine can be given as part of a home visit or at the end of a walk. Instructions and care will be discussed as part of your initial visit.
